If you don't, then you will still be fine. Its fairly easy to pick up the basics in this game.
Just kill creep and learn when to switch between playing aggressively and passively

Closest thing I ever played was Aeon of Strife UMS in Brood Wars. And I don't understand the meaning of "passive playing". Sounds like I should be picking my nose while watching movies then suddenly decide its time to pay attention.

I mean just be aware of the situation. Like pick smart battles which you can win. If the other guy can slap your shit, then don't fight him head on.
Generally the game ranks you with people of equal skill, so even if you are clueless at the beginning, everyone else is going to be clueless too.
